The Apacheacre Setter Tradition spans 40 years!  Started in 1963 with  Irish Setters, Joanne Hurd raised and showed her dogs in Conformation and Obedience.  This legacy has passed on to the youngest daughter.  Jodi got her start showing dogs at the tender age of 5 years.  One of Jodi’s favorite quips when questioned about her experience in dogs is, “ I was raised an Irish Setter.”  From the ground up Jodi learned about dogs, under Joanne’s guidance.  Her main job was starting puppies and young dogs.  In the 1970’s Joanne obtained her PHA status, specializing in the Sporting Group.  This is a continuing family tradition.  Jodi currently shows a number of Gordon Setters, Irish Setters, English Springer Spaniels, English Cocker Spaniels, and the occasional working breed.   Jodi’s oldest son Thomas Kler, had shown his Gordon CH Apacheacre Andromeda to numerous Junior Handler wins, Best of Breed from the Bred By Exhibitor classes.  Usually beating “Mom” on the way.  We are awaiting to see what the 4th generation will bring!

This should be a positive experience for your dog.  The more fun it is for the dog, the more willing worker they become.  We do not believe in harsh tactics in training and handling the dogs.  A gentle, firm hand with confidence will bring the most unsure dog around.

Puppies are a special treat for us, we love working with the babies.  If you have any questions just call.
